Just for context, Cinco de Mayo is a national day of celebration in Mexico, filled with music, dancing and really (really) good food.

But how does this relate to Capsicana? We think we’ve got the perfect recipe to bring a fresh Latin vibe to your evening with friends, or foodie celebration…

Charcuterie please!

Who doesn’t love a charcuterie board? There’s something for everyone, they’re picky, easy, and you can make it your own. Whether you fancy a quiet night in or a tasty dinner party, charcuterie boards are the perfect answer, and we thought, why not add a fun Capsicana twist.

What is a Charcuterie board?

Charcuterie is a French word meaning uncooked meats, and one of these boards would typically consist of cured meats, cheeses and other various ‘picky bits’. 

Now to get started…all you need is a big wooden serving board, some bowls and some tasty ingredients.

Ingredients (pick & mix)

Grab a Capsicana Sweet Paprika & Red Pepper Taco Kit and follow the instructions on the box. While you’re in the store, pick up any of the ingredients below, there is no need to buy all ingredients, just the ones that you fancy:

  • Capsicana Mini Tortilla Wraps
  • 3 fillings
  • Capsicana The Ultimate Refried Beans
  • Minced beef OR Quorn mince, seasoned with our Mexican Tasty Taco Seasoning Mix
  • Pulled chicken, cooked with our Mexican Tomato Chipotle Tinga Fajita Cooking Paste
  • 3 sauces
  • Guacamole, made with a sachet of our Guacamole Mix
  • Salsa
  • Sour cream
  • As many or as little gap fillers and salad as you wish, see the list below for inspiration:
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 lettuce, leaves washed and separated
  • 2 red peppers, one to be used in the taco mixture, the other served raw
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped
  • Sweetcorn, drained
  • Red cabbage
  • 2-3 limes, quartered
  • Cheddar cheese, grated

All you need to do now is lay out the ingredients on a wooden board and get creative!

Entertainment

We know you will most likely have a food baby at this point, but the perfect night doesn’t end with food…it ends with some great entertainment! From music to games, we have some ideas that will make your evening one to remember.

Games

If you want to try your hand at a Mexican game, why not try Loteria, it’s basically bingo but with the intention to match four images in a row or column and shout "Lotería!". Failing that, there’s always good old Monopoly or an easy drinking game…every day can be Cinco de Mayo after all!

Music

The final piece to glue the evening together is the music. Live your best life with a traditional playlist, with mariachi, meringue, salsa, and Latin genres. We have found some great Spotify playlists that will set the fresh Latin vibe for the night:
